Today I'll talk about a film that is now (finally) on Netflix, and is "The tale of princess Kaguya". I think that is the best of Ghibli's films (the japanese animation studio that created it). Was released in 2015, directed and written by Isao Takahata, who was one of the founders of Studio Ghibli together to Hayao Miyazaki and Tobio Suzuki.
The story is based on the japanese folktale "The tale of bamboo cutter", which is about a baby that was found inside a bamboo stalk by and old couple, who interpret that the girl is a deity who must be protected and treated like a princess. There aren't many characters in the story and they don't focus too much on their names either, perhaps only when they name the princess as Princess Kaguya and the supporting characters.
This film really touched me a lot, by its sensivility and philosophy in telling the story and for the animation quality that they used, with really surreal parts. The entire film was handmade drawn and then digitally colored, which is a very ususual practice in our times, for all these reasons it is an experience and pleasure to be able to enjoy this film, specially for the people who are interested in the visual and audiovisual world.
